Unboxing Video: T-Mobile Sidekick 4G (2011 Model)

Today, I received a T-Mobile Sidekick 4G from Fuse Wireless, which is a T-Mobile authorized dealer that sells smartphones for discounted prices with two years contract, plus unlimited data plan. So I would like to say kudos to them for letting me to get my hands on T-Mobile Sidekick 4G and to be able to show to the world and of course, you!

Sidekick 4G with Android 2.2 running and slide-out keyboard revealed

The overall design looks pretty much exactly like its predecessor, Sidekick LX. Instead of directional 4 ways pad, it is now being replaced with an optical trackpad, making it easier to navigate through the menu and the application folder. It has a better display quality than the Sidekick LX. The colors were crisp and sharp. Did I say it was a touch screen? Yep, it has that and you can either navigate through by using a 3.1 inch touch screen or use the optical trackball to do so.

It sports a five-row physical qwerty keyboard as seen the picture above. It got four physical buttons all over the corner similar to the Sidekick LX. You have Home, Jump, Menu, and Back key making it more easier to access to the app or you can customize your jump settings if you like.

I noticed the keyboard was little bit flat, it was not very bumpy like the Sidekick LX. In my opinion, I felt it was more comfortable to type on the Sidekick LX than Sidekick 4G.

Sidekick 4G has two cameras, one on the back with 3 megapixels and VGA camera on the front. They takes a decent quality images but not the best picture unlike the iPhone 4. It also got 4G connection and it was pretty fast in my area. I got 9 Mbps download and 1.1 Mbps upload, which was pretty awesome.

1500 mAh battery pack and it is where you can insert your microSD and SIM card

Overall, if you are in the market to buy a cheap but pretty good smartphone then the Sidekick 4G is for you. It got the best of both worlds, touch screen and a physical keyboard. It got Android OS, much faster and improved OS than Danger OS like in the past since it used to lag and extremely slow.  It is available now for 123 dollars at Fuse Wireless, you can check out the phone here.
